Message to JLUO: PAC48
Let me begin by saying we at Jefferson Lab hope that our user community is doing well during this challenging time. We realize that everyone has had to adjust work and life habits in this situation, and that this can affect productivity related to our research projects. The deadline for submissions to PAC48 is June 1 and we are mindful that this is causing some of you some difficulty. After consultation with the JLUO Board of Directors, we have decided to explore some ways to mitigate this problem. We cannot extend the proposal due date unless we delay the PAC meeting (currently the week of July 13). So we will be polling the PAC membership to try to find alternate acceptable dates later in the summer. If we are successful, we will communicate a revised schedule to you by April 30. Meanwhile, the due date for new proposals remains June 1. We will extend the due date for optional written Jeopardy updates until June 15.
Whether we reschedule the PAC meeting or not, it may become necessary to hold it via remote connections. We are considering some options for how to implement that option, also folding in the international character of both our PAC and user community. If we decide on a meeting by remote connection, we will communicate that to you in a timely fashion. For now, we will wait to see how the situation develops in the near future before making a final decision.
We are all looking forward to the day when our users return to Jefferson Lab to conduct their research. Meanwhile, please do your best to stay safe and healthy.
Best regards,
Bob McKeown
