Dear all,
I want to bring the first version (v0.0) of the CERN 2015 proton beam
user schedule online to your attention. It is available at
http://ps-schedule.web.cern.ch/ps-schedule/
Today the CERN PS/SPS coordinator informed me that it looks as if the
East Area, and our T9 beam line, will become available a week early and
offered the additional week to PANDA. After some discussion we decided
to accept that offer.
This means that the PANDA DIRCs will be on the schedule for Run 1 from
May 4th-25th, then take a four-week break to analyze the data, fix
software and hardware problems and prepare for run 2, which is scheduled
for June 25th through July 7th. (Plus 1-2 days to set up and clean up
each time. The prototype will remain at CERN during the four-week break.)
The East Area documentation is available here
http://sba.web.cern.ch/sba/BeamsAndAreas/East/East.htm
We plan to have both the barrel DIRC and disk DIRC prototypes in the
beam, as well as a couple of time-of-flight stations, trigger and veto
counters, etc in addition to the CERN beam instrumentation, which
includes a gas Cherenkov threshold counter.
The barrel DIRC prototype will feature the wide plate coupled to a fused
silica prism, with and without a (2-component) cylindrical lens or a
narrow bar with the 2- or 3-component lens (the new lens from our R&D
budget). We hope to improve our PADIWA/TRB readout system over the
course of the next months, tests in the new DIRC lab have started.
At the 2014 DIRC at EIC meeting we briefly discussed a possible
participation from JLab or ODU. Please let me know if one or more of you
plan to come to CERN for this test beam campaign. All help with the
setup, data taking or shifts is very welcome.
Last but not least: if you have not filled in your availability for the
2015 DIRC at EIC meeting ye, please take a look at the doodle so that we
hopefully can set the dates soon

Cheers,
Joe
