While we had hoped to be able to run ECal at lower temperatures, evidence points to continued crystal darkening even at 215 degC. I am tweaking the set temperatures to get the average at 225+/-5 degC. This was the temperature the system was designed for. We are reaching the upper limits now with several zones having front plate temperatures requiring setpoints >290 degC to reach crystal temperatures >220degC. The system was designed with an upper limit of 300 degC in mind and we are not going to exceed this. No temperature monitored in the system is to exceed this upper limit and that will define the upper limit we can reach provided the cooling can keep up. Right now the temperatures at the mid-point of the detector are in the 46-49degC range with 3 air conditioners on, so we are likely getting close to the limits of the cooling system too.
