[Dsg-halla_magnets] SoLID Magnet- Voltage Taps readout cables

The voltage output range of the Dataforth module is -10 V to + 10 V, I guess that rating to 40 V the cables from the Dataforth to the the PLC terminal is just to be on the safe side.
What about my second question. Do we need to read/monitor the voltage taps for voltages greater than 40 V?

Hi Pablo,
The signal conditioners will clamp at 40V so any wiring upstream of the dataforth needs to be rated higher, from the dataforth to the PLC terminal strip can be 40V.
40V rating is also all that is require of any wring after the dataforth, like from the PLC terminal strip to the I/o module.
Steven

Hello Steven,
We are trying to determine the gauge size and voltage rating for the cables that connects the voltage tap signals from the terminal strip to the Dataforth signal conditioning modules (see attached screenshot for Dwg A00000-16-03-0250 Voltage Tap Wiring Diagram, e.g. cable #250-01), but first we need to know what is the voltage expected in these cables?
Based on the Dataforth module's specs (model: SCM5B31-09D), the voltage input range is from -40 V to +40 V, if the expected voltage (e.g. during a quench event) is greater than 40 V, we will monitor only 40 V and not the actual voltage value. Is this the correct setup to monitor the voltage taps?
-Pablo
