[Dsg-hallb_magnets] [New Logentry] PLC Fault Handling

Brian,

Never mind, the utility kept getting blocked via our email and gmail ( zipped and extensions getting changed, even encrypted). I had it elevated and turns out the utility was not actually applicable to our situation.

Long phone call later I have sent them the logs and our .ACD file. 2-3 days from now they will provide update request for more information or pointers regarding possible cause.

-Nick

It looks like from more investigating that loading from the SD card is going to be less useful than we thought since it won't allow a transition to Run mode (assuming the PLCs have the same error, https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3659312).

According to the Rockwell Knowledgebase (probably requires a login, but at least has the article number): https://rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/278692/<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Frockwellautomation.custhelp.com%2Fapp%2Fanswers%2Fdetail%2Fa_id%2F278692%2F&data=02%7C01%7C%7C0bf91148307644b4a7b908d69b66f7e4%7Cb4d7ee1f4fb34f0690372b5b522042ab%7C1%7C0%7C636867263879945824&sdata=zuVkh1h4JJm5ZXaj4xB5%2BivJC%2F4cdz6iaJ5rt4AyQ8s%3D&reserved=0>

It has the following information that the programming manual I copied from didn't have ...

  *
Cleared the project from user memory

Note: The Fault information extracted by FDU or stored on non-volatile memory card cannot be analyzed by customers nor by TechSupport engineers. Customer Escalation Team investigation has to be initiated by TechSupport.

This is their recovery method:

  1. Clear the fault turning keyswitch to Run to Program and back to Remote.
  2. Upload the project and verify in RSLogix5000
OR
Upload the tag information from the controller
  3. Download the project and upload the tag values
  4. Return to Run/Remote Run mode.

Contact Rockwell Automation Technical support if the fault persists and to troubleshoot the fault cause.

The following functionality was added to all 3 magnet PLCs (DBox, Solenoid, & Torus)

- Controller Fault Handler routine that writes the current control log to the SD card
- Saved current project to SD card with the options set to load on empty memory and put into run mode

We were unable to get the option to automatically write the controller log to the SD card working, but that will be investigated with a test stand PLC at a later date.
