Hi all,
since we skipped the Friday installation meeting, here is an update on
the last week activity (please let me know if I missed something) and a
plan for the next week.
Marco
ACTIVITY DURING THE WEEK OF October 2
- For the activity on the electronics and the Electronic Panel, please
look at Contalbrigo's report on the wiki
https://clasweb.jlab.org/wiki/index.php/RICH_Construction
or the direct link:
https://clasweb.jlab.org/wiki/images/e/ea/Status_171006.pdf
- Mirrors
1) Mirror B2 not at JLab yet, should arrive soon.
2) Coating of the first 2 spherical mirrors by ECI has started.
- Mechanics
1) Drawings of the stiffening elements for the frame to assemble the
frontal panels have been done.
2) Sealing of the RICH with silicone has been started.
3) Still waiting for information on the holes to be drilled for the
optical fibers and humidity sensors.
The aluminum raceways have been dismounted and are ready to be drilled.
4) Discussion on the stiffening tool load test has started.
- Aerogel
1) One possible solution for the construction of a dry area for the
aerogel assembly has been found.
--------------------------------------------------------
PLAN FOR THE WEEK OF October 9
- Mirrors
1) Delivery of the first two coated spherical mirrors, tests.
2) Delivery of mirror B2. Assembly test on the frontal panel?
3) Delivery of the CFRP lower mount of the spherical mirror, replacement
of the aluminum one.
- Aerogel
1) Setup of the dry area: purchase of the tent.
- Mechanics
1) Finish the sealing of the RICH with silicone.
2) Drill holes for the N2, fibers and sensors, then reinstall the Al
raceways.
3) Load test: meeting with the new JLab engineer on Tuesday at 9 am.
- Cooling
1) Shipment from LNF of the brackets for the cables.
2) Purchase of the metal pipes. Delivery time?
3) Continue the test of the cooling system on the EPanel.
- Nitrogen
1) Setup the N2 distribution lines inside the RICH. Are the plastic
tubes available?
2) The dewar is not suitable to fill the RICH quickly (i.e. in few
hours). A new system must be used, for example bottles. This should be
discussed timely with the DSG. There is the plan to test the N2 system
in the RICH for the week of October 16. This test will include
installation of the exit panel, rotation of the RICH in vertical
position, installation of the frontal panels (possibly using the
assembly frame), sealing of the electronic panel region with plastic. It
makes sense to do all this assembly work only if we have (or we may
have) a way to fill the RICH with N2 in a reasonable time.
