[Dsg-rich] RICH N2 backup manifold test

The test is complete, the override switch is off and alarms have been re-enabled.


Attached are plots of N2 flow to RICH (top plot), the N2 backup manifold's supply pressure (PT2, middle plot), and the N2 backup bank pressure (PT3, bottom plot).


During the test (with Denny's help), we closed of the main N2 supply line and observed flow dropping from ~39 slm to ~37 slm. Since we expected flow to drop significantly more, we slowly turned off all N2 to RICH until we saw the flow meter's reading go down to verify that the flow meters were not frozen or anything strange. This is the large drop to ~25 slm.


After restoring nitrogen flow, we performed the test again by closing off RICH's main N2 supply line. We again observed the N2 flow dropping from ~39 slm to ~37 slm.


Using 40 slm to calculate a conservative length of time the N2 backup system can provide flow to RICH, the calculation comes out to ~2.5 days for the 24 k-bottles used in the two N2 banks.

We need to perform a short test of the new backup manifold to see how much flow can be provided the N2 bank.

This will involve temporarily shutting off N2 to RICH (only for a few minutes). During this time, the hardware interlock override switch will be used to prevent N2 flow interlock from tripping off HV and LV. We will also disable alarms for RICH N2 flow for the test to prevent any spurious alarms.

After the test, we will know how much flow the backup system can provide to RICH and then be able to estimate how long the backup N2 banks will last.
