[dsg-hallb_rich] Use of stiffening tool in rotation for RICH assembly?

Hello,
We're compiling information for the necessary safety documentation for RICH-II assembly. Part of this is evaluating the lift plan for rotating RICH from horizontal to vertical (and back).
In a recent meeting, INFN collaborators mentioned that for any RICH rotations, the stiffening tool should be installed onto the detector shell. Is the use of the stiffening tool necessary for rotations?
For the previous RICH sector, we did not use the stiffening tool during rotations, so its weight (an additional 625 lbs) was not considered when developing the lift plan. If we do use the stiffening tool during rotations, the entire process will have to be reevaluated since a main concern would be that the winch used during rotation may not be rated for the load of detector shell and stiffening tool together.
I will plan to show more information on the lift plan from last RICH assembly so we can discuss the matter more in tomorrow's RICH collaborators meeting.
