[Dsg-hallc_nps] Chiller Availability

That’s good news!

Another possible issue with getting a different model chiller (aside from needing to change the communication section of the LabVIEW code) would be if this is considered a pressure system and so would need DA approval to swap to something different.

It could very well be an exempt system due to the total stored energy, but that’s not something I’m sure on.

This is why swapping like-for-like is always the best way to go when possible.

Thank you all for thinking about our NPS chiller problem. The Hall C techs fixed the leak this morning. It did not leak for the 1/2 hour we observed the pipe. Hopefully, the fix will hold.

But just in case it doesn’t. We have one more month to go. So locating a possible spare would be a great piece of mind. Another important parameter to keep the temperature constant is the flow rate. Our NPS chiller has 4,3 gallons per minute. One would need something close (or higher).

Thanks!

Subject: Chiller Availability
Yuri/Denny,

The NPS experiment in Hall C has a chiller that has developed a leak, do you know if any of the chillers previously used for the SVT are available for them to temporarily use?

It has a 3 kW capacity (not sure how much of this is actually needed), only needs to maintain 20C so not a particularly low temperature requirement, and 0.1C stability (also not sure how stringent this is), which is why I thought maybe one of the older model SVT chillers could be used?

Thanks
Brian
