Again, I think there is some misunderstanding and over reaction.  In hindsight, proper choice of wording such as lead authors and ordering as apposed to  First and second lead author lists likely would have clarified the recommendation.

I don’t see what we are trying to accomplish here. There was nothing special about the g12 experiment that would justify a new authorship procedure. Quite the contrary, the proposed unique approach would raise all kinds of ethical concerns. From a personal point of view, I already find the usual first-authorship system somewhat questionable. A three-tier system would give extra credit to the g12 run group but simultaneously, would send a strong message to the rest of the collaboration.

Please remove the FSU people from the secondary lead author list.
