Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting April 10, 2012
1)	Run Report: Jixie Zhang
a)	See link for full report
b)	Gives day to day details from the past week
c)	Show evidence of 3rd arm utility
d)	Shows plans for this week.
i)	Big problem with the right septum. Jack is working on it.
2)	Doug Higinbotham
a)	Re right septum problems and schedule changes, Hall C is 
sympathetic to our problems and willing to be flexible.
b)	Discusses recent charge to NSAC (good news and bad news)
i)	Copies are available
c)	Re property and key validation, we?ve done pretty well. All 
Hall A staff taken care of and only a few Hall A users left 
to validate.
d)	Gave invited talk at APS

3)	Sirish Nanda
a)	Compton 12 GeV upgrade:
i)	Had discussion with Will Oren re resources needed from 
engineering. Main topic was the new larger BPM and will we 
need development time. The short answer is no.
ii)	Brian Quinn from CMU has been looking at synchrotron 
radiation problems at higher energies. He has a tentative 
plan.
4)	Alexandre Camsonne
a)	Harp scans are still noisy, but if you move the harp more 
slowly you get reasonable results
b)	BPM issue with raster, still trying to understand.
c)	MRPC was over-pressurized and now leaks. Need to fix it.
5)	Robin Wines
a)	12 GeV Upgrade:
i)	A priority now
ii)	Møller:
(1)	4th quad specs are in final review
(2)	PR foe 4th quad is in the system
(3)	Engineering issues with the pipe
iii)	Compton:
(1)	Clean room shut down problems may be resolved
(2)	Making modifications to piping for more adjustment
b)	Supporting APEX, PREX II
c)	TOSCA modeling for SOLID
6)	Jian-Ping Chen
a)	Finished data taking for the 1st energy of g2p
b)	SOLID collaboration meeting this Friday-Saturday (4/13-14)
c)	Making progress with licensing for GEM Chips
d)	Providing Hall A data to theory group working on polarized 
PDF fits.
7)	Kalyan Allada
a)	3rd arm data shown by Jixie is only 30% of total taken so 
far. The rest still to be analyzed.
b)	Preparing for the SOLID collaboration meeting
8)	Ole Hansen
a)	Preparing for the SOLID collaboration meeting
i)	Working on tracking software.
9)	Bogdan Wojtsekhowski
a)	Attended APS meeting last week in Atlanta
i)	Tells us about interesting Physics he learned and 
presented.
b)	After reviewing and revising APEX magnet calculations he?s 
decided that Paul Brindza?s model from 2010 was the best.
10)	John LeRose
a)	Assorted optics calculations in support of PREX II, CaREX, 
APEX
b)	12 GeV upgrade monitoring etc.
c)	Trying to push through a PR for contract work at UVA for 
SBS. 
11)	Javier Gomez
a)	Points out that there is a tentative list and schedule for 
Accelerator parameters in the early 12 GeV running time.
12)	Doug Higinbotham 
a)	Adds that DOE wants a preview of our plans for 12 GeV 
commissioning during the S&T review.
b)	Budget constraints are looming. It may not be possible to do 
everything.
