1) Thia Keppel
a) From the senior staff meeting:
i) There is a movement afoot to establish an Accelerator
Technology Laboratory. Start with 5 MeV beams upgradable
ultimately to ~20 MeV. Would be useful to Accelerator and
Physics
ii) NSAC meeting last week:
(1) New facilities all go A rating for Physics
(2) FRIB got an A for readiness to construct
iii) There is an ongoing review of the efficiency of the
decision making process. One of the things wanted is an
electronic database for proposals etc.

c) Continuing work on cryogenics in the Hall
d) New controls for box collimators
i) Having software support issues
4) Bert Manzlak
a) Reminds that Hall A Safety training (The Walkthrough) is
only good for Hall A. If you work in another Hall you need
that Hall?s safety training. May need the training to go
into another Hall unescorted.
b) Hall B is now a ?Construction Area?. Strict rules (hard
hats, eye protection, etc.)
c) There was a recordable injury last week in Hall D. Worker
was on loan from engineering with work restrictions. Those
work restrictions were not adequately communicated or
adhered to (investigation is ongoing). Take away message is
make sure your supervisor is aware of any work restrictions
you have. Where work restrictions apply there can be no
expectation of privacy. Responsibility is on both sides, the
worker and management should see that work restrictions are
adhered to and make sure all work restrictions are known. If
you have a work restriction that you think should no longer
apply, get a full release from Dr. Chandler before working
outside those restrictions.
5) John LeRose gives a talk on the ?Status of SBS?
a) See http://hallaweb.jlab.org/news/minutes/RC_Summaries/SBS-
3-12-13-jjl.pptx
b) Reviews what is SBS
c) Gives status for SBS Basic and SBS Neutron Form Factor
