Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting May 14, 2013
1)	Thia Keppel
a)	 12 GeV rebaseline was approved with conditions
b)	Our budget is uncertain. If you have vacation time you are 
encouraged to use it.
c)	Post-Doc search is underway. Doug is the chair of the search 
committee. He adds:
i)	2 candidates are scheduled to visit.
ii)	There are 2 or 3 others we?re trying to schedule
d)	TEDF move is scheduled for the weekend of June 8th. All 
Physics Engineering will move that weekend. Expect problems 
during the week of June 10-14
e)	Idaho State University MOU is signed
f)	Re PAC40 and proposals in Hall A:
i)	Hypernuclear will go to TAC
ii)	Will ask 1-2 people to look at various proposals and 
write a short summary
iii)	Will circulate the summaries
iv)	Then meet together to discuss
2)	Ed Folts
a)	Doing a lot of training and recertification work.
i)	It seems some things are disappearing from people?s 
records
ii)	Bert says Bruce Ullman (still here part time) could 
generally remedy such things. Apparently Brandy is not as 
amenable to that sort of thing.
b)	Patch panels at the pivot
c)	Lead flow system
d)	Cryo distribution can is almost finished
e)	Still on hold for cryo-controls
3)	Robin Wines
a)	Staring on upgrade of the LCW system, Ed has a good redesign
b)	12 Gev:
i)	Beam Line layout (2 more weeks)
ii)	Ready to submit REQ?s for Raster
c)	GMp/DVCS putting in REQ?s
d)	HRS detectors:
i)	Drawings completed on various parts, need approval
ii)	S1, S2, and top level drawings of HRS L&R still to do
e)	SBS:
i)	BigBite weldment and coil designs need 2 weeks to detail
ii)	Waiting on Brookhaven to ship the magnet and steel
iii)	Have cost estimate on the power supply (re-checking the 
spec?s)
iv)	Continuing on floor plates, field clamps, and coils
f)	PREX: had a meeting got more information
g)	SOLID: found out Cornel never supported detectors on the 
cryostat. Implies more design work.
h)	Problems with Polarized 3He target designs. Not fully ported 
to the new system yet.
4)	Bert Manzlak
a)	Re students over the summer, make sure they get all the 
required training they need and they understand all work 
control documents relevant to their work
b)	1 year into the down Hall A has had no recordable or notable 
events and documents are being managed responsibly. Keep it 
up!
c)	Remember to report all injuries and events.
5)	Patrizia Rossi announces that there will be a high level visit 
from INFN next Monday and Tuesday (5/20-21)
6)	Bogdan Wojtsekhowski gives status report on the HRS Detector 
Package.
