Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting: February 11, 2014

1)Thia Keppel

a.From Senior Staff Meeting:

i.Open House will be May 17, 2014

ii.Open enrollment for benefits starts this week

b.Budget discussed, FY14 and beyond

i.Budget will probably come in quarterly

ii.Budget hasn't trickled down to Physics and the halls yet, but expect 
very soon

iii.Looks good for rest of this year, what was requested

iv.Long-term budget is dismal

v.Lab still in process with DOE, hope to get more in line with Tribble 
sub-committee

c.Accelerator reached 2.2 GeV/pass milestone

i.still has lots of trips and not physics quality at this energy -- but 
an achievement nonetheless!

d.Post Doc search committee (same as before, Doug to Chair) will start 
to review applicants

e.Need final DOE approval before Hall A can get beam, but we have now 
completed all required tasks for documentation/review responses

2)Robin Wines

a.Compton polarimeter -- detector can put in the machine shop for 
modifications

i.Expect to be finished by end of February

b.DVCS/GMp -- floor plates delivered

c.SBS

i.Racetrack vendor agreed to contract reduction

ii.Conductor to be delivered to them March 3^rd

iii.They will give us their coil delivery schedule update once conductor 
is received

iv.Revising saddle coil drawings to meet Bogdan's new requirements

v.Plan to award saddle coils in March

vi.Magnet support structure -- present designs too expensive, reviewing 
and modifying to reduce cost

vii.Continue to work on magnet assembly to incorporate changes and 
develop assembly procedure

viii.Magnet steel picked up by vendor on Tuesday

d.APEX

i.Defined shielding support and corrector costs

e.SoLID

i.Provided some details on structure for the report

ii.Still need a few more days to complete this work

f.Whit started magnet cool down training, working with Ed and Heidi to 
learn magnet system

g.Grinch

i.Continuing design work for W&M

3)Ed Folts

a.Cryo troubleshooting, continue HRS cool down, proceeding as expected

b.Cryo training

c.Installed windows on target chamber downstream extension

d.Compton detector can is in machine shop

e.No survey this week

f.Floor plate delivery, discussion on 0.3 vs 0.5 for angle increments

g.New short snouts to accommodate farrow arm are almost finished, still 
waiting for gasket material

h.Ready to drill holes for jib crane when target group is finished with 
manlift

4)Jack Segal

a.Supporting Ed

b.Cleaned up dump resisters on dipoles

c.Change connectors on cables

5)Bert Manzlak

a.Telephones in Counting House on the 1^st floor will be operational 
next week

b.Running copper to phone lines

c.Phones are a work in progress
