Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting: September 20, 2016

1. Thia Keppel
   a. Senior Staff meeting news
      i. Budget Concerns
        1. 6 month continuing resolution expected
        2. Targets for labor/non-labor given
        3. Look at all travel budget first now….priority to be given to:
          a. Invited plenary talks
          b. Strategic (DOE Review, EIC development for instance)
          c. Young scientist career development
        4. DOE already has a travel moratorium 
           a. S&T visit will be in Germantown 
           b. SBS Annual Review possibly in Germantown
      ii. Progress on International MOU’s
        1. Hall B Italy & Germany making progress
      iii. Software & Computing Review 
        1. Hall representatives meet with Rolf for a hour likely next Monday to form agenda 
        2. Charge available
      iv. EIC National Academy now has a charge
   b. Hall Business
      i. Staff search is ongoing, look expect seminar announcements. Plan to attend.
      ii. Dasuni leaving – New Postdoc position will be opening

2. Robin Wines
   a. SBS – Continue remaining beam line support
   b. Tritium – Joyce is supporting Dave Meekins in drawing revision needs
   c. SoLID –Trying to figure out all the who, where, when and how of getting the steel and
      cryostat here. Possibly start early October.
   d. Moller – Met with Javier, long list of things to resolve before December Director’s review

3. Jessie Butler
   a. Refilled the section of LCW that was drained in preparation for pressure testing new section
   b. Pressure test of the new section is scheduled to happen next week when Whit (Design
      Authority) returns from NY
   c. Finished connecting LQ1, pumped the LHRS down and leak checked the entire system.
   d. LQ1 has been turned over to Spectrometer Support Group to install polarity reversal switch 
      and Survey & Alignment has been notified to do final alignment.
   e. Installed RQ1 magnet on RHRS and began making all the connections.
   f. Currently waiting on a part from the Machine Shop in order to finish making connections.
   g. The plan is to pump down and leak check RHRS early this week.
   h. Working on installing tritium duct work (85% complete), hall clean up and tuning the cryo 
      system.
