Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting: October 17, 2017

1. Thia Keppel
  a. Senior Staff
    i. Also – sign up for shifts!!!!
      1. The schedule is available now
    ii. Fire in the CHL 
      1. C61 compressor went out, pneumatic drive rod got stuck @ 90% while compressor @ 100%, 4, 000V motors to 
         drive – overheated,  transformer cabinet completely destroyed
      2. Good news: 
        a. an emergency response went well
        b. Have enough capacity for the run
      3. Bad news: 
        a. One week behind…..starting pump-down tomorrow
        b. No spares
        c. Still uncertainty in schedule, maybe know ~early November
      4. Still outstanding question: Need still to look @ cryo modules post warm-up
        a. Maybe reduced gradient
    iii. Performance Appraisal Cycle
      1. 110 self-assessments done! (due last Friday) – Do This! 
      2. Physics will try to be complete entire process by Thanksgiving!
    iv. This Thursday Budget Review Board meeting
      1. Likely will end up full year continuing resolution (better than going with the President’s budget)
      2. Capital Equipment moving
      3. Impact on Operations – more next week
    v. This Thursday @ 1:30 colloquium: Inclusion Drives Innovation” (in CEBAF Center Auditorium)
      1. 1st Deaf female college President – Dr. Jane Fernandez, Guilford College
    vi. Hall B magnets ready, 12 GeV project complete
      1. Dave Kashy will be cryogenic coordinator for halls and ESR…..working now division wide
    vii. Friday/Saturday IN2P3 team visiting
      1. B,C, test lab injector tours

2. Robin Wines
  a. SBS
    i. Checking HCal platform & support
    ii. Checking beamline assemblies
    iii. Cost estimate on ECal

    i. Continue on shielding support
    ii. Collimator & vacuum chambers

    i. Prep for collaboration meeting

3. Jessie Butler
  a. Worked with Silviu on inventory items on the APEX target setup
  b. Worked with Survey & Alignment on scheduling surveys for the hall
  c. Working on terminating wiring for the interlock circuit on the Q3s and dipoles
  d. Update drawings for the interlock circuit to match the wiring
  e. Redo a few setups for the heaters on top of the magnets used for ice management
  f. Adjust lead flows to support Ethan in testing the magnets
  g. Performed maintenance and corrective action on our machine shop tools in building 98
  h. Taking apart a broken large turbo to see if it can be repaired and used as a spare
  i. Took top off of target chamber in preparation for Target Group to install target ladder
  j. Disassemble waterfall target mechanism to make sure screws are right size for APEX setup
  k. Moving SBS LCW parts from Physics storage to building 98 and inventory them
  l. Replacing wheels on BigBite power supply
  m. Assisted Engineering Group with opening and closing up the Unser box
  n. Began removing the old bogie controls for the L-HRS
  o. Test lab crane is back up and running

4. Jack Segal
  a. BPM receiver cabling and Unser Work
    i. Unser opened and work performed ny John Musson’s group to correct an internal open connection. Looks like 
       they replaced 2 SMA connectors on the outside.
  b. RG-58 cables assemblies for R-HRS, L-HRS
    i. Fabricated set of 4 RG-58 cables 25ft long using RG-58 C/U cable for L-HRS, need to make 4 more for L-HRS 
       (more cable needed)
  c. Reviewed some of the parameters for the new bogie motor drives
