Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting: March 3, 2020

  1.  Thia Keppel
     *   Notes from Senior Staff Meeting
        *   Finish property validation!
        *   Safety Focus, Situational Awareness: a lot of hazards – train, think in advance
           *   Ask yourself what is the worst that can happen, and are the controls enough to prevent it
           *   Don’t only focus on the task at hand
           *   “SLIM” – stop, look, identify, manage
              *   Electrical, cryo, magnetic, thin widows, falling objects, stored energy – a lot to be aware of
           *   Safety stop if necessary
           *   Be a bit uncomfortable
           *   Think of engineering solutions
        *   Coronavirus is spreading
           *   Flu-like symptoms, but still need to take measures to stop…wash hands, clean workplaces, etc.
           *   Stay home if you’re sick, stay away
           *   Likely an all-hands coming….non-essential international travel for March/April, canceled lab mission in person requirement
           *   What to do with JLab meetings unclear
           *   This week APS to decide about April meeting
           *   Our cleaning team is increasing disinfectant
        *   May 6 there will be another active shooter exercise – in EEL this time, more info to come (last one was in VARC/SSC)
        *   Re-organization
           *   Graham to be Lead of Scientific Computing in IT
           *   Takes 2 from Physics DAQ with him
           *   Chris to absorb rest of DAQ group into his
           *   No Physics DAQ group anymore
           *   Create experimental software group within IT– David Lawrence, Dave Abbott, ….

           *   Moly99 report
           *   Budgets
           *   Committee of Visitors report
        *   Budgets
           *   Binkley reiterated interest in change of single to multi-purpose labs (us, FNAL, Princeton PPL)
           *   Tim presented every project, leadership wants projects
           *   Congress increased budgets but put in requirements
           *   Facilities must run maximally
        *   BNL at Jlab last Friday
           *   Fruitful discussions regarding JLab’s role inEIC
           *   Jlab/BNL – NP in Germantown next
           *   Progress, but sticky points clear
           *   Must be clear at Temple Report Meeting
  2.  Robin Wines
     *   SBS
        *   Completing GEn-RP assembly drawings
        *   Procuring items for GEn-RP
        *   Completed cost of BB GEM frame modifications – reviewing options to get work done
        *   Completed lead wall addition drawings
        *   Completed ECal test drawings
        *   Starting on LCW manifolds
        *   Reviewing gas system of Cherenkov test to be put in Hall C
        *   Remaining beam line shielding pieces delivered
        *   ECal mezzanine delivered
     *   Submitted new ODH analysis for review
  3.  Jessie Butler
     *   Worked on controls for new ice management heaters
     *   Began writing procedures needed to disconnect cryogens from RHRS during summer down
     *   Laid out SBS hydraulic system
     *   Worked on generating a drawing for 3-D printing dust caps for SAMs in the hall
     *   Worked with RADCON on measures for dealing with activated chamber window that’s ready for shipment
     *   Welded LCW parts
     *   Continue to support CREX running
     *   Received HCal work platform from the vendor, QA the parts, and stored until it can be moved to the hall
  4.  Run Coordinator – Chandan Ghosh
