[Hallc_running] [New Logentry] RC Daily Update

Yesterday we backed out of the elastic running when elastic data taking completed at 8:45 AM. To try and make sure we returned to production data over the weekend, we swiftly did a controlled access and the technicians helped return the calorimeter to 3 m. Before switching the polarity of the HMS, we took an hour of J/psi background data and then attempted to switch configuration for taking production data on KinC_60_3.

After discussion in the RC Meeting yesterday, Alexandre introduced a coin_sparse_low coda configuration which was added to the production data cycle. Production data was then collected smoothly through the rest of Day, Swing, and Owl shifts, with the exception of a roughly 2 hour down during the night. For the time being we will continue collecting data on this kinematic setting.

Hao noticed several potentially failing PMTs in the NPS LV last night, but it is my understanding that we do not presently have assembled PMTs to replace the failing ones. See:

Wassim also identified several problematic blocks in the first NPS column:

It is unclear right now what can be done immediately to improve either of these issues.

For now we will continue taking production data on this setting over the weekend, with the new coin_sparse_low setting added to the data taking cycle.


There will be no RC meeting today, but we will have one tomorrow at 11 am.
