    Present: Fernando Barbosa, Cody Dickover, Hovanes Egiyan, Mark Ito,

Elton, announcements

      * magnet scheduled to move next Monday
           + camera will be set-up
      * Tim: Hall D open house for rest of lab planned for December
      * nothing has happened on physics hire
      * Hamamatsu people will be here Friday
           + room reserved
           + no agenda yet


Tim

      * solenoid move starts Sep. 19 (next Mon.), should be done in a week
      * mid to late Oct. have all coils installed on stands
           + schedule driver: welding of baffle to yoke
      * platform will be ready by end of Oct.
           + install end of Nov.
      * power engineer being interviewed
      * mock up for CDC/FDC waiting on a few more parts
      * BCAL wedge mock-up pieces in by end of week


Elliott

      * online meeting in two days
           + David Abbott: coda 3
           + Sascha: trigger
      * number of racks, confusion cleared up
           + techs ordering hardware
      * main fiber pull for network in summer
           + buying network switches to get started
      * tagger building network, use dark fiber, tie into one, to go to
        counting house
      * calibration and conditions database: start to bring up
      * networking for trailer up in the air
           + Tim: will have the trailer until 2014
      * raw event data simulation getting close, need function from Dave
        Abbott
      * solenoid redesign meetings will start tomorrow
      * slow dump circuits were working in Test Lab during test, but a
        necessary adjustment was not done
      * quench detector re-design: do it? Fernando: no if inductances
        balanced
      * Nerses is coming soon
      * moving controls out of Test Lab


Hovanes

      * worked on EPICS support for IU HV bases
           + one component: talks to bases
           + other: provides EPICS records with values
           + going reasonably well
           + hope to have something ready for Fall beam test
      * lots of procurement items coming up
           + ordered 3 more VME controllers, total will be 8
           + PLC items
           + test electronics
           + networking hardware
      * soliciting input on computing purchase for online systems
           + for development only at this point


Lubomir

      * two cells in the first package stacked
      * one cell from last week dis-assembled, problem with wire frame and
        a cathode channel, fixed
      * running with gas and HV over weekend
      * one trip this morning on new cell
      * first wire frame capacitors not changed, but covered with Humiseal
      * today checked a few channels, wires and cathodes, fixed channels
        staying fixed
      * next cell: wire frame ready tomorrow
           + want to do more tests with two-cell configuration first


Sascha

      * had meeting with George Biallas and Tim on gap size of pair
        spectrometer magnet and vacuum chamber
           + went through simulation again
           + final decision
                o gap = 1-1/2 in.
                o 2-5/8 in. with walls
                o vacuum chamber 1-3/4 in. high
           + 2.5 GeV electrons can be accepted
           + need to check position of detectors along beamline
      * trigger bit-wise simulations
           + hits from GEANT, digitized
           + working on graphic interface
           + save waveforms and download to FPGA
      * thinking about requirements for electronic board initialization, in
        touch with Vardan Gyurjyan
      * got an FADC 250, have not looked at it yet
      * online schedule needs to be looked at again
           + event dis-entagling in particular


Simon

      * working on improvements to track finding code
           + addresses some of the issues, in particular charge
             determination
           + some problems remain for very forward tracks
           + looking at errors from multiple scattering
           + spike at zero probability: sources being identified
      * promised a new tracking document


David

      * continue to work on BCAL segmentation issue
           + another draft of note went out last week
           + working on number of photo-electrons from scintillating fibers
           + next: work with Will Levine on sim-recon tree update
           + also: parametrize effects so that they can migrate to main
             trunk, microscopic treatment may not be appropriate
      * wiki upgrade plan: current version five years out of date


Ivan

      * work on SiPM measurements set-up
           + focus on recovery time
           + problem with pulse generators; waiting for a new one
      * next work: on pair spectrometer detectors


Beni

      * worked on gas system for wire chambers
      * issue with PMT's for TOF
           + how to deal with high rates
           + at normal gain, too much current
           + will need amplifiers for innermost three paddles
           + also half-length paddles
           + no data on lifetime in terms of charge
           + constraint comes from current limit
      * fixed error messages from hdview2
      * want to re-arrange FDC test stand next


Dmitry

      * tested CCDB with JANA
           + discussed distribution plan with David
           + JANA will use plug-in to run with CCDB
           + will distribute instructions in next day or so
      * CCDB beta version will be presented at next offline meeting
      * discussed big files in database
           + will propose solution: resource management
      * CCDB web-page development picked up again
           + prototype exists, old
           + restored
           + will be part of beta release
      * continuing working with Sascha: online database


Fernando

      * safety, pico second laser, same one as we had on loan from
        Hamamatsu
           + should be here by November
           + class 3B, documentation needed just to order
                o hazard analysis
                o SOP
                o limited number of people with access
           + Fernando will be safety manager
           + training will be required
           + need special enclosure, interlocks
           + 405 nm, 100 mW peak
      * flash 250 procurement ongoing
           + end of Sep. deadline for proposals
           + current number 625
      * low voltage procurement and cable assemblies (RG58, HV)
           + should be awarded soon
      * HVB for CDC: received first article on Thu.
      * today received first article for pre-amps
           + look very very nice
      * BCAL SiPM work
           + GlueX note on 3 mm array
           + also note on 3 mm single cell
           + plan publication
           + development complete
           + Werner Boeglin tested one for start counter
           + developing test, Chris on vacation, developing for testing
             ones that are already here
           + final read-out design is practically complete
           + producing pre-amp to test single cell read-out for microscope
           + issue with degradation of timing resolution when rate goes
             above a MHz


Mark

      * construction MOU from FIU has been returned with some changes
      * reconstruction tasks being addressed in offline and physics
        meetings
      * GEANT4 Tutorial proposal got good review from UGBoD
      * TOF contract/drawings coming together
      * TOF PMT purchase order: still working on it
      * personal web site thing has been straightened out
