Hall D Staff Meeting, March 22, 2022
Present: Alexander Austregesilo, Eugene Chudakov (chair), Mark Dalton,

Announcements, Eugene
* COVID
o meeting with greater than 50 in attendance allowed now
o travel is allowed now
+ we have budget
+ must be for mission-needed purposes
+ clarification on "mission-needed" to come
* funds for current FY not yet released
o large procurements cannot yet be made
o parts for FCAL2 needed
o budget for this FY should be adequate
* Accelerator on track with SAD work
o lateness of budget may impact schedule
* EIC detector proposals
o IP-6: two proposals
1. ECCE: use 1.5 T BaBar magnet
2. ATHENA: use new 3 T magnet
o ECCE won the competition based on cost and lower technical risk
o ECCE now proposing a new magnet
* Shift policy for next run
o under MEDCON 3, no restrictions of on-site work
o Proposal: same arrangement as last time
o Beni: CPP folks endorse this approach
* property validation
o deadline moved to end of the month
* Two staff positions open
o letter of reference due at end of the month
* Rachel Harris will be retiring at the end of the month
o Stephanie Tysor will fill in for her on a temporary basis
Work in the Hall, Tim
* mounting scintillators for CPP
* target for CPP will be fiducialized this week by S&A
* beam pipe to be welded up
* decision needed from CPP group on chamber #7
* FCAL2 fabrication work on-going: brazing strips, preparing
aluminized mylar
* In final markups for FCAL2 drawings
o after that procurements can proceed
FCAL2, Sascha
* 211 modules ready
o rate is 30-40 per week
o getting help from Detector Support group
* All PMTs received
o Olga Cortes Becerra checking diameters
o marginal PMTs are being exchanged with MPS
* Loan agreement with GWU signed
o Silicon cookie preparation can proceed there
Undergraduates at the Lab, Sascha
* Sascha: what are the current rules
* Same as usual: cannot be working without direct supervision of sponsor.
* Patrizia: encourages Sascha to contact Steven Hoey to confirm the
details of current policy.
