Dear Richard and others,

If desired, we can transition immediately to the IU infrastructure for supporting conference calls. It is available and replicates the functionality of ESNET, including phone dial-in capability. I also have permission from local people to support GlueX use, even if IU is not a participant in every meeting. We just need to agree upon a number.

Here are connection instructions:

Direct-dial URI:
22<your number>@vc.iu.edu

Via IP (the IU "guest portal")
156.56.240.9, activate touch tones (typically by pressing the # key on your remote), then 1, then 22<your number>##

Telephone:
812-856-7060, then 22<your number>#

If you have access to a system that can utilize the global dialing scheme (GDS) you can also use:

(international) 001143922<your number>
(domestic) 1143922<your number>

Matt

It seems, DOE is bringing that service down in September. Between now and then we need to work together to come up with a replacement service that is affordable and works as well as ESnet. Sorry for the bad news, but at least we have time to work on finding alternatives.

Commercial solutions have matured significantly in recent years, however, and many labs and collaborations have found alternative providers to support their collaboration needs.

In addition, we will encourage efforts of Labs and virtual organizations to work together in exploring new options, and will serve as a 'matchmaker' for those efforts. One such effort is now underway in the HEP community, and we will document progress on that as it evolves.

Additionally, we are working with University of California Office of the President (UCOP) to permit individual Labs to transition to standalone ReadyTalk contracts if they wish.
