[Halld-online] [EXTERNAL] vnc server crashing on gluon machines

it s bug in root and will never be fixed.
However there is a trick found out by Mark Dalton.
use the "bullshit" option (-bs) when starting the vnc server
vncserver :XX -bs

the option must be at the very end.
that will do the trick.
