the above link is for an  article on the temperature dependence of noise 
for a detector which is very similar to ours.
the noise dependence on temp is indeed exponential, as glen mentioned.
an article on the FSSR2 states, unequivocally, the the noise dependence 
of the ASIC on the temperature is minimal.
this has been tested in the lab, c.f. brian.
the noise, however, does depend sensitively on the leakage current, 
which in turn depends sensitively on the temp.

 and so in addition to keeping the ASIC at room temperature, we have to 
keep the sensors at or below  room temp, easily achieved by flushing 
cold dry nitrogen over the sensors.
i've made some calculations in this matter.
