Dear HPS Colleagues,
There is a funding opportunity for "next generation direct detection dark matter experiments", NSF 13-597. (http://nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=504939). I asked the fund manager Jean Cottam Allen if this excludes accelerator based experiments, and the answer I received was that these are not excluded, as long as they are "an order of magnitude better" than existing experiments. It seems that a targeted Heavy Photon experiment would be among the possibilities. Deadline for the letter of intend is October 16th. Is this at all interesting, or are we not yet ready to think about an order of magnitude better?
Cheers,
Maurik
