Dear HPS collaborators,

                You will find in the newly created HPS Note archive (https://misportal.jlab.org/mis/physics/hps_notes/ ) the final version of our Note on ECal simulations. There are small additions compared to the previous version which circulated in the collaboration, in particular (but not uniquely) Sect. 3.1.1 and page 23. Some figures were changed also, but the results remain the same.

                Concerning the points raised at last Wednesday meeting:

-          Including the effect of energy dependence of the sampling fraction in the calculation of the energy resolution actually improves (slightly!) this resolution.

-          We estimated the fraction of events in the low energy tail of the calorimeter response, events likely to be lost offline, but one has to keep in mind that some of these will be cut at the trigger level and that the trigger acceptance calculation already accounts for some of these losses.
