The weather forecast for today and Wednesday, July 6-7, calls for
daytime highs in the mid-to high-ninety degrees Fahrenheit, for all of
eastern Virginia. These are potentially dangerous conditions. Please use
caution if working outdoors, in areas without air conditioning or if
conducting heavy work.

Peak temperatures will run from 1-5 p.m. each day. Stay indoors with air
conditioning whenever feasible. If working outdoors or in areas not air
conditioned:
--Plan adequate rest breaks,
--Wear protective clothing and sun screen and
--Drink plenty of hydrating fluids. Thirst lags behind dehydration.
Drink more than your sense of thirst indicates.

If you engage in lunchtime sports activities (hockey, walking,
bicycling, etc.) consider adjusting your activity level and stay well
hydrated.

If you feel ill or begin to experience heat stress symptoms, please
contact Occupational Medicine promptly at ext. 7539.
