I think that much work defeats the purpose of kitting...

All,

These parts are in kits. The kits have serial numbers and acronyms, and will be tracked through travelers. After talking with Gary, we serialized each of the bellows.

At this time the Bellows themselves do not have acronyms, and the serial numbers will be entered in a comment field or an attached spreadsheet.

What are your thought on creating acronyms for ALL of the components that will be in kits or not bother?

So if I understand correctly, all parts have the same number with dashes and no unique SN? Do we need to engrave SNs?

Mike,

I don't know there are people who would take "(" as part of a S/N. I can't help laughing:-D while looking at the picture.

Yeah, I need to have some talk with other vendors to prevent this from happening again.

Regards,
Gary

Gary,

In the photo you can see that the vendor has marked the part exactly as stated in the drawing, parentheses included. Maybe a talk with the vendors to make sure that they understand our serialization intent, or reference the serialization document in the drawing without an example.

Your thoughts.
