[Pansophy] NB3SN project (Moving parts from C50R/C75 to NB3SN??) Verification and Authority?

Hello Jacob, et. al.,

In the case of the doglegs, since there are NO DUPLICATE serial numbers, the "project name" only identifies which traveler the serial number appears on/in. As long as future researchers know to search multiple projects, not just the first one they find, they will get a full picture of the parts history and data.

This is not the case for ALL parts, especially cavities. For each project, cavity serial numbers start with some version of 1 (one), usually prefixed with 2 or 3 zeros. If someone runs a query (as I have) for serial numbers containing "001" they would find 23 records (many serial numbers are prefixed with "project names" due to the DUPLICATION of serial numbers).

These are single cell and multi cell cavities from research and production projects over the 20+ years of Pansophy records. Almost all of these cavities only have the numeric portion of the serial number stamped/engraved on them. If you can determine the cavity design, you might be able to match the serial number to get the correct data from a search.

I believe cavities fall in the category of traceability. Doglegs too?

Please note that I am gravely concerned about the serialization of traceable parts for the upcoming EIC project with multiple cavity/cryomodule designs.

Valerie, et. al.,
Is "project name" an attribute associated with a uniquely identified part, or is "project name" an integral element of the part's unique identification? I assume it's the latter. If so, then are we saying a part belongs to a project and can never be used by another project without creating data confusion? Is there a way to identify a part without using "project name" to make it unique; or create a Part ID alias so the "project name" element can be changed without losing its tie to the previously assigned "project name"?

As for traceability, the requirement is that items we want to be traceable must be uniquely identified to prevent unintended usage. We choose the identification system/method.

Jacob

Tony / Phil / Jacob / Anne,

A request has been made to add DL-183 and DL-205 to the NB3SN DGLGSN list.
Using a Serial Number Search, I found that both of these Doglegs are coming from the ER5C (C50R/C75) project area.
Who Verifies/Validates that these parts are moving out of one project area and into another??
This is where traceability breaks down.

Hi pansophy team,

Could you add dogleg serial numbers DL-205 and DL-183 to Traveler ID: NB3SN-INSP-DGLG please

Thank you,
Aaron
