Subject: Mixed work centers : SNSPPU Pressure Relief Plate Assy traveler

Hello All

Recently Earl brought to my attention another traveler where there are mixed work centers in the same traveler – while I realize PPU may be getting close to the end, it would never the less be nice if we could get this problem fixed, and come up with a systematic approach so that work centers are no longer being mixed . I agree completely with him that this is a problem when the work of other work centers is mixed into inspection work – we have no way to track parts once they leave our work center . He is correct this problem seems to be re-occurring - we find mixed work centers on Inspection travelers quite often for other projects as well , so this problem is not limited to PPU

I am including Ashley in this discussion since she is the Project Co-coordinator for PPU . Do you think it is possible to put the leak/pressure test into a different traveler ? I don’t mind to go through all the other projects & travelers and look for where we have mixed work centers occurring in Inspection , of course this will then mean a new traveler will be needed for leak test

Thanks Anne

On 10/27/22, I emailed Michelle Oast about a potential problem in the SNSPPU Pressure Relief Plate Assy traveler for SN016. I started this traveler left it open

because there was a STEP2, "Adjust the PRPA to relieve at 1 psig." The inspection for me is visual and surface finish. The pressure test is performed by a

different department. The test did not get performed. I let Michelle know that I think the pressure test should have its own Traveler. This was my quote in the

email:

"This is an issue I have brought up before. I believe that putting a pressure sequence in the inspection traveler can cause issues.

1) The pressure setting can be overlooked and the part installed without the plate being set properly.

2) One traveler with 2 or more departments performing work is an issue if other departments don't fill out the traveler after the work is completed. This happens

a lot.
