[Sbs_software] Request to subsystem experts: Tell me what I CAN'T remove from the ROOT tree output

Hello all,

Even after Eric’s bug fixes, the ROOT outputs of our “standard” replay jobs are FAR too big. I am going to modify the output definition files for the “standard” replay scripts to dramatically reduce the amount of low-level/raw information that is being written to the tree, to make our root outputs more manageable to work with and analyze. What I would like to request from each subsystem (other than the GEMs, we already have very light-weight output) is a list of the variables you regard as “must have” in the ROOT tree during the standard, “all detectors” replay. All others ROOT Tree outputs will be removed from the “standard’ replay. Going forward, if you want to plot large volumes of redundant, unnecessary low-level/raw information, you should do it via histograms, and if you really insist on putting such information into the tree, you are encouraged to do so in a custom replay script on either the batch farm or on your own machines, to avoid cluttering the disks of the counting house machines, and to facilitate more rapid analysis and calibrations on the CH machines.

If I don’t hear from you I will use my own best judgement and make educated guesses.

Thanks,
Andrew
