Subject: [EXTERNAL] PPU weekly update
PPU continues to progress across all fronts. The project office is laying out a plan for the run-up to a scheduled DOE status review in September. In the SCL area the first cryomodule string assembly is over ½ complete at JLab, and cavities are being jacketing and tested in preparation for the second string assembly. The cryomodule first end cans were received at JLab and are undergoing inspection. In the RF area the new RFQ/DTL modulator is running in the RFTF building and the vendor is making good progress on the new superconducting linac modulators, on track for meeting the next milestone. In the Ring area procurement orders were initiated for FNAL to fabricate the new injection area magnets, which is the major part of the ring area work. Also feedback from a design review in early March to simplify parts of the beam power limiting system is being adopted. In the target area a final design review was held for electrical power upgrades in the target building, which will support the new He gas injection and off-gas treatment systems. The klystron gallery work is transitioning to electrical systems, control system implementations, and testing of the piping installation. The piping installation was a major part of the klystron gallery effort and is now complete. A substantial completion of the overall klystron gallery buildout is scheduled for early April.
We are certainly starting to move into the thick of the project execution phase with lots of balls in the air, as you can see above. Thanks all for keeping the balls “above ground” and have a great weekend - jg
