Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting: August 18, 2020

  1.  Thia Keppel
     *   Senior Staff Meeting
        *   Run extended two weeks to 9/20, unlikely to further
        *   EIC
           *   Strong hadron cooling in planning – needed to reach high luminosity
           *   OPA review next month
        *   UITF
           *   10µA goal, 7.2MeV last week
           *   lots of trips, but getting going
        *   Budget
           *   Continuing Resolution is the expectation
           *   Research budget remains an issue
        *   No MedCon5 -->4 news yet
        *   Won’t have United Way day, still have campaign
        *   New JLab Event Manager hired, Anita Chapman
        *   MOLLER Director’s Review this week
        *   SAD
           *   ~7 months of shut down
        *   PAC last week
           *   7 approved experiments
           *   2 C1 (technical only, no need to go to PAC)
           *   5 C2 (back to PAC!)
           *   Request to asses systematics more rigorously
           *   Request for better proposal preparation (write better, remove flaws)
  2.  Robin Wines
     *   SBS
        *   Have received all parts for GEn-RP detectors
        *   Continue on ECal support and platform
        *   Updated ECal cooling test design
        *   BB field clamp modification in review
        *   Completed lead wall analysis
        *   Created welding travelers for conical beamline and LCW manifolds
        *   Analysis of corrugated beamline connection
        *    Reviewed sieve plate mechanisms


     *   SoLID
        *   Completed shielding drawing and continue on turret to spool piece connection
     *   MOLLER
        *   Prep for review, setting up design work on detectors
  3.  Jessie Butler
     *   Continue fabricating parts for LCW water manifold platform.
     *   Modification of SBS exit beamline is complete, new we are test fitting the shielding to make sure it fits.
     *   Machined a flange that's need to SBS installation.
     *   Repositioned gas bottle racks for the gas shed.
     *   Re-arranged hot work area inside building 98 to support construction on large frame for LCW manifold.
     *   Began cleanup efforts in Physics Storage.
     *   Additionally, there were two main access in the Hall during the week; One was on Friday to check the AC in the left shield hut.
     *   Found ice build-up on the evap coils so the unit was shut off and will check Freon levels at a later date.
     *   The second access was on Saturday morning in support of troubleshooting the beam line Moller quads.
