Dear all,
I tell you my availabilities and after that few considerations.
In my case the deadline of my J1 visa is 31 May 2012 and the contract will
end on 14 June (I could extend visa only for few days).
Considering all the options, I believe that the 2 favourite options are:
the first (all data taking period in May) and the last (1"week" in May and
the reamining 1 in September/October), for different reasons.
The option one because it was the original idea and i believe that all of
us consider PEPPo as part of their plans. (I'm talking about organization
and not motivation) :) There is also another aspect, if we will run at the
"end" of the shut down the injector will be off since few months and
everything should be restarted, retuned etc..instead of running in May
where everything will be going "smoothly". I know that we don't have
special requirements, but it is like a car not used for a long time...
I like the 3rd one because in the first "week" we could commission PEPPo
with the electron beam. (I'm hoping that, in May, all the regions will be
already tested "grabbing" beam during Jan/Feb). In that case we should
have time to analyze data, optimize positron measurements and maybe, find
other interested students. On the other side, people should not be able to
redefine their plans.
I don't really like the second option. On this case we will be stuck for a
long period with the conseguences that we will "forget" or send PEPPo to a
Next to Leading Order.
Obviosly in my considerations I did not take into account some other
features as, loaned tools or spaces that we can loose, motivation for
"postponing" the data taking period or other possible
advantages/disadvantages.
Have a good day,
Erica
